The Society of NLP is the original NLP certifying and licensing organisation, created back in the late 1970s as part of the origins of NLP training as described in books such as Frogs Into Princes.

Bandler moved the ownership of the SNLP into his business which was then liquidated when Bandler declared bankruptcy in 1982. SNLP was acquired by a group of NLP trainers including Christina Hall who had worked with Bandler and Grinder and the rest of the team who first developed NLP. Hall continued to own the SNLP and license trainings until November 2023 when she chose to step back and pass ownership of the SNLP onto a group of her Master Trainers and Trainers so that they could continue her legacy.

Peter Freeth is now an owner of the SNLP, operating through his business Genius. Based in the UK, Peter continues to innovate NLP applications in the fields of business and coaching and as a Master Trainer originally licensed by Chris Hall trains at Practitioner, Master Practitioner and Trainer level around the world. Peter is the author of more than 20 books to date, 10 of which are on the subject of NLP.

The full group of owners of the SNLP chosen by Chris Hall are Amy Bell, Tushita Bosonet, Michael DeMolina, Peter Freeth, Peter Gerecke, Arpana Doris Greenwood, Yoko Konzoin, Luca Lancini, Anna Modrzewska, Cherie Newland, Tadaharu Nikaido, Anne Marie Perri, Mark Peters, Rachael Peterson, Michele Roush, Shinichi Suzuki, Chihiro Tanaka, Karim Turki.
